Fall Herbal Allies
Beloved Autumn… 🍂🧡 I didn’t always welcome this season. For a long time, fall signalled the approach of winter—and winter meant falling into a darkness that was often hard to return from.
It was never really the darkness itself that I feared, it was the getting lost in it — where I’ve lost far too much. Many years of healing work gave me tools to use from this place, however it wasn’t until herbal medicine that I felt I could descend into the darker months with a trusted way out.
My herbal allies sit with me like dear friends. I know that I am tethered to lighter places through their tender medicine, and with that in heart I head toward the dimming days — ready to do my inward healing work ✨
This season I’m working with St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum), Wood Betony (Betonica officinalis), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinalis RAD), Angelica archanglieca (angelica).

St. John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum)
A golden thread in the darker months, St. John’s Wort feels like a sun-warmed hand reaching back for me when my inner world grows dim. Its bright, resinous flowers help lift the weight from my chest and clear the fog from my mind, so I can meet my shadows with a little more courage, warmth, and light.
Wood Betony (Betonica officinalis)
Wood Betony gathers my scattered pieces and brings me home to my body. Its grounding, nervine presence helps soften looping thoughts and anchors my spirit back into my bones, so that I feel safe, held, and present as I move through deeper layers of inner work.
Dandelion (Taraxacum officinalis RAD)
Dandelion root is my steady, earthy companion—supporting the slow, faithful work of digestion, detoxification, and emotional composting. As a liver and digestive ally, it helps me process what I no longer need and transform heaviness into nourishment, making space for clarity and renewed vitality.
Angelica archangelica (Angelica)
Angelica arrives like a gentle, luminous guardian—lifting what feels stagnant and inviting breath, warmth, and circulation back into the places that have grown cold. Both grounding and elevating, she bridges earth and sky, reminding me that I am protected, guided, and never alone in the mysteries of my healing journey.
Please remember: Before incorporating any new herbs into your wellness practice, particularly if you have existing health concerns, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on medication, it is essential to consult with a trusted healthcare provider or a qualified clinical herbalist.
